The HUMAN Project is a reminder of our shared humanity and a step toward equality. This is a social artwork that will create “HUMAN” sweatshirts for unsheltered population and those dedicated to standing for humanity regardless of where one lays their head down to sleep.
The HUMAN Project is a social practice art piece in which quality black hoodies have the bold-lettered word HUMAN silkscreened on the front and back. These hoodies will be distributed to unsheltered people by organizations with which they have existing trusted relationships, such as shelters, soup kitchens and the like.
Perhaps wearing the HUMAN hoodie may lead to the folks being treated a bit kinder, or maybe it will simply clarify that we need to engage in our humanity when navigating each other. Maybe less violence will happen to its wearers… One can hope, but we have to act to make the hopes come true!
